Andrew and Craig and the entire team of trades went above and beyond to build our dream home. They were transparent throughout the process- there were no surprises as everything was clearly communicated. They collaborated on all aspects of the build and treated our home as if it was theirs- hard to ask for more! Andrew is an incredible sounding board for design decisions and he truly wants what is best for the client. The quality of the craftsmanship is excellent as is the attention to detail. Ecnomus managed a major renovation of our 100+ year old home, which involved a “full gut” rebuild within the existing brick exterior walls. Overall, Ecnomus exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend them to anyone considering a major renovation or new build.

For most people choosing a contractor is a big and stressful decision, so I’m including some very few specific reasons why we recommend Ecnomus:

When unexpected challenges popped up (which always happens in renovations), the team was honest and focused on finding solutions. We felt like they genuinely cared about our home.

(3) Strong Subcontractor Network: Every subcontractor (electricians, HVAC specialists, plumbers, etc.) was respectful, organized, and committed to high-quality work. They communicated well and knew exactly what they needed to do. Ecnomus has clearly put a lot of effort into choosing reliable partners.

(4) Realistic and Accurate Cost Control and Reporting: Before construction started, we received a detailed budget. Throughout the project, the invoices were clear and detailed, so we always knew where our money was going. The project also finished on time so we have several weeks to prepare for our move-in date.

We love our “new” home and we’re very grateful for the partnership with had with Economus. We strongly recommend Ecnomus and would work with them again if we ever contemplate another large-scale project.

We worked with Ecnomus on renovating the main floor of our century home. We were pleased from start to finish with the project- we experienced timely and frequent communication, they set realistic timeline and budget expectations and they were helpful with all decisions we needed to make pertaining to our renovation. The craftsmanship was second to none. They managed to reclaim all of the original doors and trim to make the renovated area of our home blend into the existing section of the home. They created a warm feel while keeping all the character of the old home, which we wanted. On another note, the workers cleaned the space every day, everyone was friendly (we have small children so this was a bonus), and they accomplished a lot every day which was essential to them completing the reno in good time. Ecnomus completed a 2 storey extension and interior renovation on our century home and we could not be happier with our finished home. The project included opening up the back of our double-brick home to build a new living room and deck on the main floor and a new bedroom and bathroom on the 2nd floor. They reconfigured the existing interior to add a mudroom and powder room, subdivided a large bedroom into two, and added additional windows to our third floor. A large-scale project for sure! From the get-go, Ecnomus’ detailed quoting helped us to understand all components of our project and ensure everything had been thought through and that there would be no surprises. We worked closely with Andrew throughout the project and really valued the knowledge and recommendations he and the team shared with us, from material selections to design suggestions. What really impressed us was the initiative and new ideas they brought to the project. For example, when I said I wanted reclaimed wood benches they took the initiative to reclaim the wood from walls taken down in our own home. They suggested turning a regular flat ceiling into a cathedral style for more height, and turned an old Juliet balcony into a built-in bookcase. The team understood our vision of maintaining the character of our home and implemented that vision beautifully with such craftsmanship. We first met Andrew and the Ecnomus team when they renovated our basement as part of the HGTV ‘Leave it to Bryan’ series. For this project, we had to ‘go with the flow’ in terms of design decisions but we were consulted wherever possible and were delighted with the final results! We partnered with Ecnomus Construction Group Inc on the complete renovation of our kitchen. The project involved removal of a wall between the existing kitchen and dining room space to expand the kitchen into a much larger space. It also involved gutting the existing kitchen to install new cabinets, flooring, plumbing, lighting, new appliances (including some built-ins) along with expanded gas line and new duct installation etc. Working with Craig, Andrew, Murray and their excellent roster of sub-contractors was such a positive experience. They were attentive to the many details of the project, flexible, diligent and always available either on-site or to respond to queries by email. Andrew, Craig and the Ecnomus Construction Group Inc. team assisted us with the extension of 31 Hickory Street West, Waterloo, ON, in May 2013. The team was provided a tight deadline to meet, construction was to begin in May and end by August 2013. The team worked diligently to ensure the requirements by us and the City of Waterloo were met. Economus Construction Group was responsible to renovate my kitchen. This wasnt just a facelift renovation, this was a major structural change to accomodate a large design and a very large space. My family had the pleaseure of seeing Murray, Andre and Craig on a daily basis during the process.
